SMART is an old acronym for goal setting. But with my class next week it’s going to take on a new meaning!  We’re going to make smART goals!

Have you been procrastinating on something lately? Come to my class next Wednesday and break through the block so that you can get it done.

We are going to apply ART to your goal, and capitalize on all the mental power that ART contains!

You already know (from last week) that “the car goes where your eyes go.” Where you set your sights—that’s where you head. What you focus on, that’s what grows.

I’ve heard over and over again about experiences where a person has set a strong goal and then opportunities seem to start coming out of the woodwork. They meet people who have resources to help; they stumble upon information in the newspaper or a magazine that supports their need. Unusual, unexpected answers to their problem start popping up out of nowhere.

Some believe this is God answering prayers. Others believe the saying that if you ask the universe, the universe will answer.

I believe it’s both, and more.

I believe something significant is happening inside you.

When you firmly set an idea in your mind, you spend time thinking through the goal, envisioning the results, and planning a strategy. This triggers something in your mind, and you start to notice and connect the world around you with that idea. When you set a goal, and FIRMLY plant the desire for it in your mind, you begin to recognize opportunities that support that idea.

I truly believe that most of the time, those opportunities are around us all the time, but we don’t begin to recognize and capture them unless that goal planted in our minds.  The goal awakens an awareness in us.

In my class next week we will get a chance to test the theory.  We’ll do a short goal-setting exercise and then weave that goal into our paintings, using artist Vance Kirkland for inspiration.  You don’t have to know a thing about painting to be able to reap the benefits of making smART goals with me next week.  Click here to register.

I am curious if YOU have ever had that experience–when you have a goal, or a problem to solve, and suddenly the solutions start appearing out of nowhere.  Please share!  I want to hear about it!
