globe lamp made as altered book art by Virginia Beach artist, Maggie Kerrigan

Months after finding this paper lantern at a thrift store, the concept for this piece came together. This piece of art restores an old torn lantern and leftover, otherwise discarded pages from old books.

It was a bit of a challenge to work with the frame of the lamp as the tissue paper came off. It had to be done in stages, in order to maintain the shape of the sphere. You can read about the full process by clicking here.

Now that it’s complete, it’s a stunning and unique piece of functional art that will liven up any space in the home.
