Just Breathe

Are you poised for something big? Craving a change, or an accomplishment.

I got a red flag about this at the gym this morning.  After 20 minutes on the elliptical, I was ready to buy a Veggie-Matic, the PiYo exercise CD set, and a “tiny house” in Alaska. Oh, and possibly sign up to foster a child.

My gym equipment was (unfortunately) stationed in front of the infomercial channel. And the advertisements kept catching my eye.  Normally I don’t pay ANY attention to sales pitches like that…I tune them out with no effort at all.

But this morning I was getting sucked in. Maybe that Veggie-Matic IS the key to better eating. Maybe that exercise CD set WILL get me in shape for summer.

Maybe _______________ (insert anything here) will bring ____________________ (insert definition of happiness here).

About 20 minutes into my workout, I shook myself out of the “trance” and started wondering what was going on. Why was I so vulnerable to the sales pitch—any sales pitch—this morning?

Then the ah-ha moment—The Easy Fix. That is what all of these infomercials were promising—The Easy Fix.

I want an Easy Fix—but I don’t even know what for!

Let me ask you—have you ever experienced this same vulnerability? Have you surfed from one “solution” to another, looking for some kind of “fix” to an undefined problem?

When you find yourself hungry, but you don’t know what for, you must resist the infomercials! Instead, turn to your tribe. Find your gurus. The friends and family who “get” you will understand and help you figure out what is bubbling under the surface. They will help you get to the root of that itch. They are the people willing to truly listen to you and then offer insight to get you on your true path to fulfillment.

I’m curious if anyone else has experienced this?
